We are looking forward to welcome you at the Kardinal-Döpfner-Haus, where the conference will take place. The Kardinal-Döpfner Conference Center is part of what was the residence of the prince-bishop with an over 700 years old history. It is situated right in the middle of Freising on one of its two hills just above the town center.

Freising itself is a lovely Bavarian town with around 46,000 inhabitants. Although today it is much smaller than Munich, it reaches back much further in time (1300 years), being one of the oldest settlements in between Bozen and Regensburg. Today Freising is characterized by its strong economic power, resulting in Germany´s lowest unemployment rate in its county. The Munich International Airport, which is just a 15 minutes away, might be part of this success story.
Besides the historic town center one of the world´s oldest brewerys is another attraction in Freising. The brewery dates back to the year 1040 and is now part of the Center of Life and Food Sciences of the Technische Universität München. The School of Forest Science and Resource Management is one of the schools within this Center of Life and Food Sciences.
As Freising is located about 30 kilometres north of  Munich also trips to Munich or even into the Alps are easily possible. The alpine regions of Bavaria are among the prime destinations for vacations in Germany providing the widest array of recreational activities. Going north there are also very interesting travel destinations within less than an hour driving distance. One of them is, for example, the town of  Landshut with its gothic buildings. Another is the city of  Regensburg. Its historic center right along the banks of the river Danube is part of the UNESCO World Heritage.
